About PCC

Yes, Carteret County, there is a Santa Claus, and it is you!

Project Christmas Cheer is a local volunteer, non-denominational outreach program established to provide Christmas assistance to children and seniors in the county that have documented financial need.  The program is administered by a Board of Directors and a staff of two paid coordinators. Approximately 30 volunteers are utilized during the application and adoption time period. Qualifications for Project Christmas Cheer support is based on Department of Social Services guidelines.

Initially established to provide Christmas gifts to area children through the process of the children being adopted from Angel Trees at area locations, it has grown into providing Christmas for both children and seniors.  Individuals, businesses, churches, and community organizations have over the years provided financial support and have adopted children and seniors to ensure that all in our community can share in the joy of Christmas.

Last Christmas (2023) we serviced, with your help, a total of 352 applications which included 706 children and 159 seniors.

See the How to Apply and How to Adopt pages for additional information and make your plans on how you can support Project Christmas Cheer of Carteret County during the Christmas season.

Matthew 25:35-40 says, “When I was hungry, you fed me; when I was naked, you clothed me; when I was a stranger, you helped me.” Then these righteous ones will reply, “When did we feed you or clothe you or help you, Lord?”  And the Lord will reply, “When you did it to these my brothers, you were doing it unto me.”
