About PCC

Yes, Carteret County, there is a Santa Claus, and it is you

Project Christmas Cheer is a local volunteer, non-denominational outreach program established to provide Christmas holiday assistance to children and seniors in the County that have documented financial need during the holiday season.  The program is administered by a Board of Directors, a staff of 2 coordinators, and approximately 30 volunteer application takers are utilized during the application and adoption period. Qualification for Christmas Cheer support is based on Department of Social Services guidelines.

Initially established to provide Christmas gifts to area children through the process of the children being adopted from Angel Trees at area locations, it has grown to both providing gifts to the children, and meals or gift cards for groceries to qualifying seniors.  Individuals, businesses, churches, and community organizations have over the years provided financial support and have adopted children and senior citizens to ensure that all in our community can share in the joy of Christmas.

Christmas (2022), 415 families applied for and were accepted for Christmas Cheer assistance.  648 children were placed on the Angel Trees and were all adopted and provided Christmas and168 seniors citizens were provided Christmas gifts and either food for a Christmas meal or a gift card.

See the Applications and How to Adopt pages for additional information and make your plans on how you can support Project Christmas Cheer of Carteret County during the Christmas season.

Matthew 25:35-40 says, “When I was hungry, you fed me; when I was naked, you clothed me; when I was a stranger, you helped me.” Then these righteous ones will reply, “When did we feed you or clothe you or help you, Lord?”  And the Lord will reply, “When you did it to these my brothers, you were doing it unto me.”
